Whole Children is Five!

Since we opened our doors in October, 2004, we have realized our dream of creating a place for children of all abilities to play sports, take art and music classes, make friends, take risks, and discover skills and talents they never knew they had.

That first year, we served 40 families. In the years since, that number has grown to more than 400 families! And in that time we’ve had lots of reasons for high-fives at Whole Children – on the basketball court, the soccer field, after a rousing theatrical performance, or the perfect parry in fencing. And this year, we’ve expanded beyond our Hadley home, taking the kids on lots of new adventures, including hikes on Mt. Tom, rafting down the rapids on the Deerfield River, and even a morning of falconry where the kids had a Harris hawk eating out of their hands.

Our kids feel good about themselves and their experiences at Whole Children. And we are doing what we set out to do – creating a supportive, fun and inclusive environment where every child can succeed and has something to high five about.

So it’s our birthday and we have one wish – to offer more classes, to more children, and to keep the spirit and community of Whole Children growing.
